Hello Modern Marketer,
Nerding out with AI taught me 7 principles that are now my default mode in marketing with AI.
All the marketing initiatives I took on my projects are based on these core concepts. It’s my holy book of how I approach the AI marketing game.
In this series, I share short and crisp principles with you, one a day.
Principle 3: Learn Principles Not Skills
The beautiful thing about AI is it has eliminated the need for executional skills.
You don’t need to know syntax to write code with AI. You don’t need to know design to create images. You don’t need to know how to write to start your blog.
But…
When coding, you need to know how to merge features, securely save API keys, manage databases, etc.
When designing and writing, you need to understand workflows, human psychology, and how to approach the task.
For example, I used to one-shot websites with prompts like “Build a website with xyz pages and abc brand guidelines.”
But one of my designer friends shared his workflow with me.
He first chooses brand guidelines (typography, colours, etc.) Then he builds components (buttons, footers, etc.) Then he moves on to layouts and pages.
This way, as you scale, your AI has references to brand guidelines and components, so it’s easy to build all you imagine with minimum tokens and max brand consistency.
These are insights only specialists gain from doing the same thing thousands of times while developing principles they can reuse. We need to learn from them to create our own principles.
(You can call these principles, playbooks, frameworks, systems, fundamentals, but you get my point…)
So… when tech bros on Twitter/X say sentences like, “SEO is dead. I generated 100 pages with AI and our DR increased from 6 to 21”, I usually don’t look at their output (100 pages) but basic SEO principles (search intent, good backlinking, etc.)
My point is, with vibe coding as an example, yes you don’t need to learn coding (as a language) to build apps, but you still need to learn coding principles (security, database management, auth, etc.) to make sure your app serves your users in the best way possible.
There is a reason why my writing system with AI performs far better than my vibe coding or design with AI. I have been writing for 6 years and I still write manually, like this newsletter.
I have a fun exercise for you.
Pick a skill you got into after AI. The one you are not a specialist in. Then find a specialist and talk about how they approach their work. I promise the insights will blow your mind.

Vikra.
