11 marketing recommendations

Resources about storytelling, AI, copywriting, and so much more...

Vikra Vardhan

I spent 5 hours consuming marketing content last week.

Today I’m sharing 11 recommendations across storytelling, copywriting, AI, and so much more…

In Today’s Newsletter,

  • My top 3 marketing recommendations

  • 8 resources shared in our community

1. Ira Glass on Storytelling

There are dozens of frameworks on storytelling.

You probably use some of them. But I believe if you really crack and understand Ira Glass’s framework, you will be able to derive multiple versions by yourself.

Because it’s simple and powerful, and reduces overcomplication of any sort.

It talks about how a story has only two building blocks, an anecdote and a bait.

PS: The video is 17 years old and is still relevant.

2. How to master copywriting so fast it feels illegal

You can’t deny copywriting is everywhere.

We use it in hooks of text and video content, in emails, offers, advertisements, communication, and literally every place that involves a creator and a consumer.

Irrespective of your job function, you need to be good at copywriting.

This is my #1 recommendation for marketers across the globe:

Because this 35-minute video has:

  • Books and sales letters for you to study

  • Actionable techniques that are simple and you can actually take out time for

  • The most fundamental principles used by top 1% copywriters

3. Roadmap to learning what matters the most in AI and Marketing

GrowthX’s Founder, Udayan, shared what matters today in each business function.

I like mathematical marketing. It’s a term I coined to push myself to think in terms of equations, data, and numbers, because that doesn’t guarantee success but reduces the chances of failure.

It’s a topic for another day. But but… this particular essay shares what’s important for business across different functions - design, product, engineering, marketing, generalists, hr, and sales.

Once you understand this, it will get much easier to prioritise where to use AI in your work.

I suggest you read the entire essay even if it’s not your domain, but if you have little time, read marketing and generalists.

PS:

I don’t share recommendations in this level of detail as often. Today I shared because I didn’t have an AI workflow or guest interview that’s worth your time.

If you like this format, let me know and I’ll share my best picks from every month.

Personal Notes

I finally watched BND and Odyssey. If you’ve been reading the newsletter regularly, you know how much I was scared to miss out on these movies.

Also Ted Lasso is back! Glad Apple TV is releasing one episode per week. Good for my productivity.
